Juneteenth: My Story of Freedom and Access
In celebration of Juneteenth, Colorwave champions the dual themes of Freedom and Access by highlighting the importance of choice in career paths and the ability to generate wealth without restrictions.
Discovering Colorwave changed everything for me. Before finding this program, the world of startups seemed distant and hard to grasp, even though I always wanted to start one myself. Colorwave not only gave me access to education but also set the stage for what I now see as generational wealth. I learned so much about the startup world, which ignited a deeper passion for entrepreneurship, investing, and education. This experience has greatly expanded my career options, giving me the confidence and clarity to pursue paths in these fields.
Since joining Colorwave, I have been able to participate in a startup accelerator/fellowship program. I would not have had the knowledge about the startup ecosystem without Colorwave's experience. I would say that the experience allowed me to gain hands-on experience, network with industry leaders, and receive crucial mentorship that pushed me. Now, I am building my startup, Zuoluh. Not only that, I have been able to share the knowledge I gained with many people and apply it to business plans, paving the way for real career opportunities and job creation.
The community has really made me feel like I can achieve my goals too! Meeting people who are genuinely supportive of my growth and achievements is incredibly inspiring. It all comes back to the idea that representation matters – it's empowering to see the different paths one can take.
